Obituary: Arrand, Velma Millicent

ARRAND, Velma Millicent 95 Years of Life The Pearly Gates opened for the most beautiful 95 year old Angel on November 28th, 2014.

Although Heaven has gained our “rock”, she will certainly be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Velma was born on June 8th, 1919 to Frank and Lillie Jenkin in the little town of Mold, WA, “that is no longer on the maps”.

She was raised in St. Andrews, WA, and graduated from Coulee City High School in 1937.

She met the love of her life, Frank Arrand, and they started their journey together on the 19th of September 1937.

Three children, Marilyn, Paul and Larry Frank.

Frank and Velma tried living and working in a few different towns, Coulee City, WA, Englewood, CA owning and working “Highland Dairy” in Coeur d’ Alene, ID, and Spokane, WA.

They finally found their perfect place, Deer Park, WA.

They lived in the small community from 1974 until 2005 when they moved to Nine Mile Falls, WA with their granddaughter Merrilee and her husband, Mike.

Velma started her career at Kaiser Aluminum in 1947 as a baker.

That job was the beginning of many wonderful meals that she cooked for her family and patrons.

She also worked as a cook at Diamond Bowl, Silver Lanes, Studio K and retired as a baker/cook from Mead School District.

She was involved in ceramics, painting classes, homemakers club and enjoyed auctions and garage sales, family get- togethers, company of friends, but what she loved the most was her Lord and Savior.

Her faith got her through every obstacle and made her the wonderful loving woman she was.

Not ever was there person, child or adult that did not fall in love with her.

She always had a smile, a hug and kiss for everyone.

She was kind, gentle, and compassionate and never allowed anyone to cry alone.

Velma is survived by her daughter Marilyn Williams and son-in-law David of Deer Park, son Paul Arrand and daughter-in-law Beverly of Deer Park.

Velma has 8 grandchildren 22 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren all living in various states, WA, ID, CA, OK, MI and MT.

Velma also had several nieces and nephews.

Velma is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Frank, a son Larry Frank, grandson Frank Lee, sister Neva, brothers: Boyd and Gene and her parents Frank and Lillie Jenkin.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 13th, 2014 at Open Door Congregational Church at North 205 Main Street in Deer Park with Rev.

Dr. Daniel N. Berg officiating.

Immediately following the service, there will be a luncheon at the Deer Park Masonic Lodge.

For this that wish to attend, interment will be held at Woodland Cemetery, Deer Park WA.
