Boys basketball: Ryan Quigley leads Lakeside to Northeast A League boys basketball victory over Freeman

Ryan Quigley scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Lakeside remained tied atop the Northeast A League with a 71-64 win over Freeman Tuesday night in Nine Mile Falls.

Cameron Gay added 18 points and four assists and Spencer Reynolds chipped in 15 points, eight rebounds and four steals for the Eagles (5-1, 2-0), which led by nine at the half.

Jake Phipps led three Scotties (2-3, 0-2) in double figures with 21 points. Jack Pauckert had 16 and Ryan Maine 11.

Riverside 65, Newport 49: Tyler Axtell scored 27 points and crossed the 1,000-point mark for his career in the Rams’ win over the visiting Grizzlies (4-2, 1-1). Andrew Kramer added 13 points and Kevin Huggins chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds for Riverside (5-0, 2-0). Kyler Zorica led Newport with 18 points.

Deer Park 57, Colville 47: Nate Guske scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Daniel Paulson added 12 points and eight boards as the Stags (3-3, 1-1) took advantage of the cold-shooting Indians (0-4, 0-2) and won in Deer Park. Colville scored just six points in each of the first two quarters and missed all of its first-half 3-pointers. Sam Artzis put up a game-high 17 points for the Indians.

Medical Lake 73, Chewelah 62: Cory Wagner scored 27 points and Jaelon Stith added 20 as the Cardinals (3-1, 2-0) dominated early and defeated the host Cougars (1-5, 0-2). Chase Frizzell and Joe Shamberger combined for 25 points for Chewelah.

Northeast 2B North

Springdale 55, Davenport 52: Austin Zeller’s shot at the buzzer was off the mark and the Chargers (4-3, 2-1) edged the visiting Gorillas (1-4, 0-3). Chandler Carr had 22 points and nine rebounds and John Lynch 15 points and 12 assists for Springdale. For Davenport, Zeller and Nathan Hopkins scored 15 points apiece.

Reardan 49, Kettle Falls 41: Brandon Reuben scored 10 of his game-high 27 points in the fourth quarter and the Indians (2-2, 2-1) outlasted the host Bulldogs (0-6, 0-3). Brandon Hansen had 20 points and seven rebounds for Kettle Falls.

Northwest Christian 89, Wilbur-Creston 53: Ryan Ricks scored 25 points and David Olds added 22 as the red-hot Crusaders (5-1, 3-0) raced past the Wildcats (5-1, 2-1) in Wilbur. Northwest Christian tallied 32 second-quarter points and led 52-36 at the half. Colton Magers had 23 points and nine rebounds, Nick Densely scored 13 and Dorian Jaeger added 10 points and three steals for Wilbur-Creston.

Northeast 2B South

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 70, Tekoa-Rosalia 40: Dallas Killian led a balanced attack with 12 points, five rebounds and four steals as the Broncos (3-2, 1-1) routed the Timberwolves (0-6, 0-3) in Ritzville. Cooper Angelo had a team-high 10 points for Tekoa-Rosalia.

Liberty 73, Colfax 43: Match Burnham erupted for 31 points and 15 rebounds and the Lancers (5-0, 3-0) routed the visiting Bulldogs (3-2, 1-1). Clay Fleming added 16 points for Colfax, which forced 24 turnovers. Kasey Johnson and Danny Robinson combined for 25 points for Colfax.

Northeast 1B North

Curlew 88, Republic 74: Coby Grumbach scored 20 points and Aaron McCullough added 18 as the Cougars (5-1, 2-1) beat the host Tigers (2-2, 1-2). Curlew led by 15 at the half. Trevor Remien and Angelo Rivera scored 20 points apiece for Republic. Remien made 4 of 7 3-pointers and all six of his free throws.

Northport 51, Inchelium 45: The Mustangs (3-2, 2-2) went on a 6-0 run in the final minute and beat the host Hornets (1-3, 1-3). Vithor Martin scored 22 points and Breno Santos added 16 for Northport. Tristan Seymour tallied a team-high 14 points for Inchelium, but the Hornets made just 5 of 26 3-pointers.

Northeast 1B South

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 42, Odessa-Harrington 29: Logan Bohnet’s huge game – 28 points and 14 rebounds – lifted the Warriors (4-1, 1-0) past the Titans (1-4, 1-1) in Coulee City. Payton Nielsen added 18 rebounds for ACH. Sam Schafer and Shane Whitaker combined for 21 points for Odessa-Harrington.

Valley Christian 53, Columbia (Hunters) 32: James Segalla scored 22 points and Chase Strunk and John Sun each added 10 as the Panthers (1-5, 1-1) dumped the visiting Lions (0-3, 0-1).

Nonleague

Lakeland 63, East Valley 38: Slader Ray scored 14 points and Jay Plunkett added 11 points and eight rebounds as the Hawks (6-0) opened the game on a 21-5 run and dumped the Knights (3-2) in Rathdrum. Tyrel Derrick added 10 points and eight assists for Lakeland. Tanner Jacobs made four 3-pointers and scored 12 points for EV.

Moscow 40, Cheney 30: Jack Akey scored 23 points as the Bears (1-3) topped the host Blackhawks (3-3) on a cold-shooting night for both teams. Moscow made 25 percent of its shots while Cheney was just 21 percent from the floor.

Kellogg 62, Wallace 28: Heath Waechter had 14 points and seven rebounds and the Wildcats (4-1) dumped the host Miners (4-3).

DeSales 63, Oakesdale 44: Cole Miedema and Cam Richman combined for 40 points and the Irish pulled away in the fourth quarter and beat the host Nighthawks (0-4). Tanner Dingman tallied a team-high 16 points for Oakesdale, but the Nighthawks were outscored 17-4 in the final quarter.
