Lake City’s girls defeat Highland

Whitney Meier had 22 points, including three 3-pointers, and five steals to help lead the Lake City Timberwolves past the Highland Rams 53-46 in a nonleague game at Timberline High School on Thursday night.

LC (7-1) jumped out to a fast start and led by 19, but Highland came back to narrow the margin. Maren Herrud led Highland with 20 points.

Pullman 58, Moscow 43: Emily Drake scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Greyhounds breezed past the visiting Bears (0-5). Savannah Paul had 10 points and five rebounds and Maddi Mueller added nine points and seven rebounds for Pullman (3-3).

Post Falls 55, East Valley 44: Freshman Melody Kempton had 20 points, 10 rebounds, six steals and five blocks to lead the Trojans past the visiting Knights. Kim Reynolds added 13 points for PF (8-1). Skylar Bastin scored a team-high 11 points for EV (5-1).

Coeur d’Alene Charter 36, Kellogg 33: Annna Verhaeghe tallied 14 points and 11 rebounds, Jacklyn Jensen cleaned up on the glass with 14 rebounds and the Panthers (4-1) sneaked past the visiting Wildcats for a victory. Andee Wendt and Kayla Graybill-Miller each had a team-high six points for Kellogg (3-2).

Great Northern

Clarkston 62, Cheney 25: Charlie Dimke had 15 points as the Bantams rolled over the visiting Blackhawks. The Bantams (2-3, 2-0) held the Blackhawks (2-4, 0-1) to six made field goals. Brette Draper had 11 points and Kendyl Cone 10 for Cheney.

Northeast A

Lakeside 60, Newport 19: An aggressive press defense forced 28 turnovers, Sienna Swannack had a game-high 19 points, and Jocelyn Cook-Cox added 14 points as the Eagles (6-1, 3-0) rolled past the host Grizzlies (1-6, 1-2). Lauren Vaughn had a team-high six points for Newport.

Great Northern

Clarkston 68, Cheney 32: Trevor Sperry, Trevon Allen and jake Dwyer scored 14 points apiece and the Bantams (6-0, 1-0) eased past the visiting Blackhawks (3-4, 0-1). Jamiel Worthem topped Cheney with 10 points.

Northeast A

Lakeside 63, Newport 54: Ryan Quigley scored a game-high 18 points, Cameron Gay and Dominique Watson combined to add 24 points and the Eagles (6-1, 3-0) raced out to a double-digit first-quarter lead and beat the host Grizzlies. Kyle Zorica scored 17 points and John Lyon added 15 –on five 3-pointers – for Newport (4-3, 1-2).

Nonleague

Pullman 73, Moscow 41: Tim Pendry scored 21 points, making 5 of 6 3-pointers, and the Greyhounds (5-1) defeated the visiting Bears (1-4) in a nonleague game. Jack Akey scored 14 points to lead Moscow.

Post Falls 86, East Valley 55: Max McCullough scored a game-high 20 points as the Trojans (5-0) improved upon a nine-point halftime lead to handle the visiting Knights. Tanner Jacobs had a team-high 14 points, all in the first half, and Jeremiah Hillard added another 10 for EV (3-3).

Kellogg 58, Orofino 31: Gus Colburn had 25 points, including five 3-pointers, as the Wildcats (5-1) beat the visiting Maniacs.

CdA freshmen 62, Mullan 47: Caleb Beggerly scored 17 points and the Vikings beat the visiting Tigers. TJ Placencio stood out for Mullan with 28 points.

Gymnastics

Central Valley finished at least first and second in each individual event and took the top four spots in the all-around as the host Bears claimed the top team score at 164.4 in a Greater Spokane League match. McKinzie Carter won the all-around with a score of 35.625, narrowly defeating Izzy Erdem, who had a score of 35.175. Lewis and Clark (127.175) placed second, followed by Shadle Park (126.425), Rogers (107.575) and North Central (96.7).
