Obituary: French, James Benjamin “Ben”

FRENCH, James Benjamin “Ben” 96 Years of Life A very longtime rancher and logger on Wild Rose Prairie and in Williams Valley areas of Deer Park, Washington, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014.

Ben is the dear father of Russell French of Deer Park, Washington, and Larry French of Miles City, Montana.

Ben’s daughter-in-law is Marjorie French of Princeton, Idaho.

His brother-in-law is Loyal Fleener and his sisters-in-law are Glenda Holley, Jeannette Talbot, and Westell Fleener.

Mr. French enjoyed eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

There are numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara June “Bonnie” French, and a son, Lloyd French.

Born in 1918 at Moscow, Idaho, he was a self-employed rancher and logger on Wild Rose Prairie, and, upon retiring, he and Bonnie had a ranch in Williams Valley.

His hobbies were stream fishing, hunting, playing pool, gardening, and picking huckleberries.

Funeral services honoring Mr. French will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 20, 2014, in Deer Park at the Open Door Congregational Church with Rev.

Dr. Daniel N. Berg officiating.

Following the interment, at Wild Rose Prairie Cemetery, there will be a reception and luncheon at the Deer Park Masonic Lodge.
