Obituary: Porter, Clifford C.

PORTER, Clifford C. Clifford C. “Cliff” Porter died December 12, 2014 in Kennewick, Washington, and was born in Thornton, Iowa, May 10, 1929.

Cliff was an alumnus of California State College in Los Angeles, CA.

His major places of employment were with Schlage Lock Company in San Francisco, CA, the Los Angeles Municipal Court, the California State Court of Appeal, Second District, Los Angeles, and the California State Court of Appeal, First District, San Francisco, where in 1971, he was appointed to the position of Clerk of the Court performing supervisory duties of the Clerk’s Office and administrative duties for the court at large.

Cliff held this position until 1985 when he retired and relocated to Spokane, Washington.

In Spokane he was employed by the Spokane County Superior Court as a courtroom clerk and also as a bailiff.

He retired again in 1991.

Cliff was a former member of the National Conference of Appellate Court Clerks, The Caledonian Club of San Francisco, The Clan Fraser of San Francisco and the Angus Scott Pipe Band of Spokane.

At the time of his death he was a life member of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society and a member of the St. Andrews Society of the Inland Empire.

Cliff is survived by his wife, Dixie; his sons: Alan (Camilla) Porter, Ronald (Kimberly) Kinmark, and Michael Kinmark; his daughter, Lori Ehlis; his grandchildren: Joshua, Leah and Owen Porter, Heidi (Sean) Pace, Heather (Ryan) Bennett, Eric (Brianna) Kinmark, Brad (Barbara) Kinmark, Kari and Jessica Kinmark; his sister, Nola (Paul) Stezaker; eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Beulah May Langston Porter; father, Harold Porter and brother, William (Marilyn) Flenniken.

A Celebration of Cliff’s Life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at All Saints Episcopal Church; 1322 Kimball Ave, Richland, WA 99354.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s or the charity of your choice.
