Sounders acquire midfielder Pappa

MLS: The Seattle Sounders acquired former Chicago midfielder Marco Pappa through Major League Soccer’s allocation process.

Seattle made the acquisition on Friday. He will be added to the roster pending receipt of his visa and international transfer clearance.

Pappa, 26, previously played in 11 matches for SC Heerenveen in the Dutch first division during the 2012-13 season. Prior to his time in the Dutch league, Pappa played for Chicago from 2008-12, playing in 112 matches with 26 goals and 16 assists. He has also made 30 appearances for the Guatemalan national team.

Pappa is a two-time MLS all-star selection. He is expected to join Seattle during its preseason training in Tucson, Ariz.
