Four corners: Gonzaga Bulldogs
Thu., Feb. 20, 2014
COMING UP: Tonight at BYU, 8 (ESPN2); Saturday at San Diego, 9 (ESPN2)
OUTLOOK: The Bulldogs, who earned at least a share of the WCC title last Saturday, can claim the crown outright with a win. GU has won five straight in the series, including a 70-65 victory in Provo last year that helped the Zags reach No. 1 four days later. Gonzaga guards scored 60 points, led by Kevin Pangos’ 24, in an 84-69 win over BYU last month. BYU is 129-12 (91.5 percent) under coach Dave Rose at the Marriott Center. The Cougars are 12-1 at home this season, the lone loss to then-No. 21 Iowa State 90-88. Wing Tyler Haws leads the WCC and ranks fourth nationally at 24.1 points per game.
