Boys basketball: Dragons top Crusaders

Dexter Sienko scored 21 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and defending State 2B-champion St. George’s routed Northwest Christian 58-36 in the 2B subregional title game Saturday at Mead.

Erik Muelheims also scored 21 points for the Dragons (26-0), who outscored the Crusaders 19-6 in the first quarter.

Ryan Ricks led Northwest Christian (16-11) with 12 points. St. George’s claimed the top seed to regionals and the Crusaders earned the second seed.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 79, Liberty 71: Dylan Hartz had 24 points, nine assists, six steals and five rebounds and the Broncos (22-4) secured the third seed to regionals with a win over the Lancers (21-7) at Mead. Connor O’Neill added 23 points for LRS. Liberty’s Match Burnham led all scorers with 26 points. The Lancers claimed the fourth seed to regionals.

District 7 2A

Clarkston 74, Colville 44: The Bantams (20-3) earned the No. 2 seed to regionals with a win over the visiting Indians (12-11).

1A bi-district

Riverside 39, Chelan 28: Andrew Kramer scored 10 points and Kevin Huggins added eight points and five rebounds as the Rams (20-5) earned a spot in the regionals with a win over the Goats at West Valley. The loss ended Chelan’s season.

District 7 1B

Wellpinit 55, Odessa-Harrington 46: Brodie Ford scored 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as the Redskins (15-9) rallied after a slow start and beat the Titans (16-7) in the district title game at Deer Park. James Best added 12 points and Jason Holt chipped in nine points and 13 rebounds for Wellpinit. Odessa-Harrington’s Carsen Weber scored a game-high 20 points. Wellpinit earned the top seed to regionals and Odessa-Harrington is the second seed.

Wilbur-Creston 59, Valley Christian 56: Dorian Jaeger made a pair of free throws with 30 seconds left and Nick Densley blocked a potential game-tying 3-pointer in the closing seconds as the Wildcats (16-8) claimed the third and final seed to regionals with a win over the Panthers (15-9) in Deer Park. Densley finished with 19 points and Colton Magers and Garet Townsend each added 14 for Wilbur-Creston. Nick Cox had 21 points and Grant Marchant added 14 for Valley Christian.

District 9 1B

Colton 66, Garfield-Palouse 60: Jake Straughan scored 25 points and Dalton Patchen added 22 as the Wildcats (14-6) secured the second seed to regionals with a win over the Vikings (19-4) in Colfax. Colton trailed by a point at halftime, but outscored Garfield-Palouse 34-27 in the second half. Matthew Holbrook led the Vikings with 20 points. Jesse Lopez added 19, but fouled out with 3 minutes to play. Garfield-Palouse was eliminated.
