Police looking for garage burglary victims

Police followed footprints in the snow to arrest two garage burglary suspects early Tuesday and are looking for additional locations that may have been broken into. Several garage burglaries were reported in the area near the 100 block of West 23rd Avenue around 2 a.m. Tuesday. Police responded to one location and spotted fresh tracks in the snow leading away from the garage toward a car seen driving away, according to Spokane Police Sgt. Lydia Taylor. The footprints in the snow were matched to the two men in a car, Taylor said. They have been identified as Darren Bard, 19, and Nicholas Whitney, 20, and were arrested for second-degree burglary. Anyone in the area that was a victim of a garage burglary overnight is asked to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233 to make a report even if nothing was taken.
