Ethanol spills from overturned trailer near Moses Lake

At least 1,000 gallons of ethanol spilled from a tanker trailer that flipped on its top after it crashed on Highway 17 a few miles south of Moses Lake today. The truck was heading north when the driver, identified as Darryl J. Roy of Kennewick, lost control and hit the guard rail, according to the Washington State Patrol. The tanker full of ethanol rolled over the guard rail while the semi came to rest blocking both lanes. The highway was closed for 12 hours while the Environmental Protection Agency responded to clean up the spill. Roy will be charged for speeding too fast for conditions, the WSP said.
