Cougars’ Lacy nears return from rib injury

PULLMAN – The Washington State offense has struggled in conference play but help could be on the way. According to coach Ken Bone, DaVonte Lacy, WSU’s leading scorer at 17.7 could be back from his rib injury in time for the Cougars’ game against Washington on Saturday.

Lacy has played in just one of WSU’s eight conference games, and for only 11 minutes. After missing the conference opener against Arizona while recovering from an appendectomy, Lacy returned to play against Arizona State but injured his ribs in the first half.

Bone said on Tuesday that Lacy had been cleared to practice and would participate in shooting and passing drills today. If all goes well the junior guard will make an appearance this weekend.

“I think there’s a chance he could play this Saturday, which would be right there,” Bone said “It was a 4-to-6 week diagnosed rehab time and four weeks is this Sunday. So he’d make it right on the cusp there but we’ll see.”
