Girls roundup: Colfax slips by Liberty

Amara Huber scored 10 points and Scout Cai added eight as Colfax kept pace with Lind-Ritzville/Sprague for second place in the Northeast 2B League with a 36-34 win over Liberty Tuesday night in Liberty.

The Bulldogs (14-5, 10-3) shot just 25 percent from the floor, but did enough defensively to escape with the win.

Christine Denny and Aly Tee scored 13 points apiece for Liberty (5-14, 4-9).

St. George’s 54, Reardan 30: Hayley Higashi made 4 of 4 3-pointers in the decisive second quarter and finished with 19 points, five rebounds, three steals and three assists as the Dragons (9-10, 7-6) routed the visiting Indians (3-16, 1-12). Ceci Berquist added 12 points for St. George’s, which outscored Reardan 26-10 in the second quarter. Madde Johnson scored nine points for the Indians.

Northwest Christian 52, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 34: Mackenzie Gray scored 14 points and Rachel Bozlee added 13 as the Crusaders (19-0, 13-0) pulled away after a competitve first quarter and beat the Broncos (12-6, 9-4) in Ritzville. Northwest Christian outscored LRS 16-8 in the second quarter to take a nine-point lead into the half. Dalyn Killian tallied a team-high 10 points for the Broncos.

Great Northern

Cheney 64, Pullman 40: Kendyl Cone made 7 of 9 free throws and finished with 17 points as the Blackhawks (4-10, 2-5) beat the host Greyhounds (6-10, 2-6). Shyann Morton added 14 points and Megan McDowell added 10 for Cheney. Savannah Paul scored 13 points and Becca Wickard added 10 for Pullman.

East Valley 62, Deer Park 25: The Knights (13-3, 6-2) dominated from the opening tip in an easy win over the host Stags (1-14, 0-7). Alex Rankin scored 11 points and Hannah Burland and Jordan Phelan added eight apiece for East Valley. Deer Park’s Savana Sitton and Siera English scored six points apiece.

Northeast A

Freeman 53, Kettle Falls 26: Katie Vold had 14 points and eight rebounds as the Scotties (13-4, 9-0) surged ahead in the second and third quarters and dumped the visiting Bulldogs (9-8, 4-6). Haley Burke added 13 points and six assists for Freeman, which won for the 10th time in its past 11 games. Kettle Falls’ Kourtney Keenan scored nine points.

Lakeside 56, Riverside 25: Shaye Swannack scored 13 points and Ashley Cook-Cox added 11 points and eight rebounds as the Eagles (15-2, 8-1) locked down defensively and beat the Rams (5-12, 2-7) in Nine Mile Falls. Lakeside forced 28 turnovers and held Riverside to 16-percent shooting. Marisa Pace and Julianna Trepanier combined to score 23 of the Rams’ 25 points.

Newport 45, Medical Lake 20: Holly Malsbury had 19 points and 11 rebounds as the Grizzlies (12-6, 5-5) dominated from the outset in an easy win over the visiting Cardinals (5-12, 3-7). Jolie Frederick added 10 points, five steals and four assists for Newport, which outscored Medical Lake 15-2 in the first quarter.

Northeast 1B South

Wilbur-Creston 82, Almira/Coulee-Hartline 59: Elizabeth Brudevold scored a career-high 21 points and Jessica Boyer added 20 as the Wildcats (17-0, 5-0) routed the Warriors (8-8, 3-3) in Wilbur. Berlyn Hunt and Reinnee Rocket combined for 27 points for ACH.

Southeast 1B

Touchet 58, LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus 34: Cierra McKeown scored 23 of her game-high 34 points in the first half as the Indians got up early and coasted past the Tigercats (1-15, 0-13) in Washtucna. Jazzmyn Gordon tallied a team-high nine points for LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus.

Colton 80, St. John-Endicott 39: Zoe Moser hit eight 3-pointers and scored a career-high 34 points to guide the Wildcats (16-0, 12-0) past the visiting Eagles (10-6, 7-4). Jenna Moser made four 3s and added 16 points for Colton. Gracie Dickerson tallied a team-high 10 points for St. John-Endicott.

Tekoa-Oakesdale 56, Garfield-Palouse 19: The Nighthawks (13-3, 10-2) opened the game on a 25-0 run and raced past the Vikings (5-12, 3-10) in Oakesdale. Mattie Jo Johnson scored 18 points nd Kim Groom added 14 for T-O.

Nonleague

Priest River 62, Sandpoint 58: Katlyn Summers made all six of her free-throw attempts and finished with 20 points as the Spartans (11-7) edged the host Bulldogs (11-7). Karly Douglas added 14 points for Priest River, which outscored Sandpoint 36-25 in the second half. Sandpoint’s Nikole Alamillo tallied a team-high 15 points.

Timberlake 62, St. Maries 42: Allison Kirby led three players in double figures with 22 points and the Tigers (10-7) pulled away late and beat the visiting Lumberjacks. Keelie Lawler scored 14 points and Jessica Norlander added 12 for Timberlake, which outscored St. Maries 30-16 in the second half. The Lumberjacks’ Kerstin Auer and Kelsey Auer combined for 31 points.

Post Falls 68, Moscow 52: Shayna Allert scored 16 points and the Trojans (10-9) beat the host Bears (2-14). Post Falls outscored Moscow 22-14 in the fourth quarter to put the game away.

Kellogg 53, Wallace 29: McKenna Stewart scored 14 points as the Wildcats (9-6) jumped ahead early and eased past the visiting Miners (12-3). Sam Woody scored 14 points and Emily Nelson added 10 points for Wallace.
