In brief: Doug Burnett appointed to Idaho Travel Council

From Staff Reports

Gov. Butch Otter has appointed Doug Burnett to serve as North Idaho’s representative to the state travel council.

Burnett will replace J.J. Jaeger, who served two terms on the Idaho Travel Council.

Burnett has worked for Hagadone Hospitality since 1995 and is currently the Coeur d’Alene Resort’s resident manager. He’s a graduate of Washington State University and previously managed resorts in Port Ludlow, Wash., and Bodega Bay, Calif.  He has also held management positions with Sheraton Hotels in Hawaii, Australia and California.

The Idaho Travel Council is an eight-member, private-sector advisory board appointed by the governor.

Skyhawks Sports Academy acquires SoccerTots

Skyhawks Sports Academy has acquired SoccerTots, a Spokane company providing physical development programs for toddlers and young children.

Skyhawks, headquartered in Mead, largely offers summer outdoor sports and activity camps for children from 3 to 12 years old. SoccerTots primarily offers indoor sessions.

“So they complement us both in providing more programs throughout the year and expanding the age group,” Skyhawks President Chris Stiles said.

A news release said the combined operation this year will provide sports programs to more than 75,000 children in 27 states and four Canadian provinces. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
