Spokane Indians roll to 14-1 win over Tri-City

PASCO – Andrew Barnett went six strong innings and Eduard Pinto had five hits to lead a 17-hit attack as the Spokane Indians continued their offensive rampage through the Northwest League in a 14-1 victory over the Tri-City Dust Devils on Sunday night.

The Indians (22-8) swept the three-game series and have won four in a row. They remained four games ahead of Vancouver in the North Division with eight games left in the first-half race.

Barnett (2-0) gave up Tri-City’s two hits and one run, striking out three and walking one.

Luke Tendler and Jose Trevino added three hits each and Seth Spivey and Diego Cedeno two apiece. Trevino drove in three runs as did Zach Cone, who slugged his third homer this season. Ten of the Indians’ RBIs came with two outs.

The Indians scored two runs in the first inning and never looked back. Dust Devils starter Ryan Warner (1-3) lasted only two-thirds of an inning. Warner also didn’t make it out of the first inning in his last start, also against the Indians.

Spokane extended its lead to 5-1 in the second inning, 7-1 in the fifth, 9-1 in the seventh and added its final five runs in the ninth.
