No pot taken in burglary at legal Washington grow

Associated Press
SPOKANE — A legal marijuana grower says robust security measures required by the Washington state helped foil an early morning burglary. Sean Green, who was the first person in the state licensed to produce marijuana, says two people broke in the front door of Kouchlock Productions in Spokane at about 4:45 a.m. Tuesday. They triggered alarms that almost immediately sent police and a private security firm on their way, and the burglars only got away with two Rockstar Energy drinks from the refrigerator. Washington state requires security systems and surveillance cameras at all licensed marijuana operations, and Green says the cameras caught high-quality images of the burglars that he hopes can be used to catch them. Brian Smith, a spokesman for the state Liquor Control Board, says it’s great the system worked, and he hopes word gets out that it’s not worth trying to break into state-licensed pot businesses.
