Obituary: Boland, Carol Lauretta (Mchugh)

Age 92

BOLAND, Carol Lauretta (McHugh) (June 2nd, 1922 - June 11th, 2014) (Age 92) Passed away on June 11, 2014 at her home in Tustin Ranch, California with her loving devoted daughter Sherri by her side.

Born on June 2, 1922 in Mullan, ID the only child of Emma Pabst and Michael Bernard McHugh, she was raised in Mullan by her loving aunts Elizabeth McHugh and Agnes Hall.

Carol was proud to be of the Catholic faith and St. Jude was her beloved saint.

She attended University of Montana from 1940 to 1944 and obtained a business accounting degree as well as an outstanding proud alumna of the Delta Delta Delta sorority.

Carol moved to Spokane in 1945, where she worked for Bonneville Power and also the Spokane school district for many years.

She married John W. Boland in 1955 and had five beautiful children that she later raised on her own.

Carol began a career as an audiologist with Beltone in 1970.

Always possessing an entrepreneurial spirit, in 1980 she opened her own successful hearing aid business - Northwest Professional Hearing on North Division - while raising her five children.

She retired in 1990 in the Rockwood area on the South Hill in her “long desired” dream home.

Her favorite hobbies were antiquing, garage sales and wonderful “forgotten finds” at her second hand shops.

She had many dear friends at her much loved charities the Volunteers of America, Goodwill, SCRAPS and the Spokane Humane Society.

After retiring she traveled extensively and in June 2009, her travels brought her to Orange County, California - the Tustin Ranch area.

Carol actively enjoyed her remaining years in the golden sunshine of Southern California surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren.

She was forever energetic, generous and kind with a smile that lite up the skies!

She is survived by her five children, Sherri Boland, David Boland, Donnelly Boland, Susie Boland Gonyea and Doug Boland.

And four gorgeous grandchildren Melinda Davison, Karissa Gonyea, Anjalee Gonyea and Derek Jay Boland.

Carol Lauretta Boland was the sweetest, kindest angel that ever walked this earth!

She was deeply loved by all who met her and will be eternally missed!

A celebration of Carol Lauretta’s life will be held Saturday, June 21st, 12 pm at Saddleback Chapel in Tustin, CA.
