Obituary: Brown, Lucille F. “Lucy”

Age 80

BROWN, Lucille F. “Lucy” (80 years of life) Lucy passed away peacefully to be with her heavenly father on March 1, 2014 surrounded by her family.

She was born on February 26, 1934 to Clarence and Mabel (Judd) Bray in Spokane, WA.

She graduated from North Central High School in 1952 and married Thomas A Brown on December 8, 1952 at Central Lutheran Church.

She met Tom while working for Watkins Products, and she continued as business partner, mother to five children and active volunteer in many organizations.

In 1978 they moved to Memphis, TN., as their Watkins business grew.

Upon their return to Spokane in 1982, in addition to helping with their business, Lucy helped start the Clothes Closet at Central Lutheran Church.

Her heart for helping others was evident in her ministry of knitting “Lucy Hats,” often giving away as many as 100 hats each year.

Her work at the Clothes Closet touched countless lives over the next 30+ years.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents and by sisters, Ruthie and Mary.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Tom; and brothers, Verne Bray of Ogden, UT., and Bob Bray of Deer Park, WA; sisters, Doris Blades and Lois Sudermann of Spokane, WA; children and spouses, Tom (Vicki) Brown of Spokane, WA, Kathy (Doug) Minor of Nine Mile Falls, WA, Amy (David) Dahler of Germantown, TN, Peggy Brown of Odenton, MD, Jeanne (Dan) Marsillo of Spokane Valley, WA; grandchildren, Kari Minor, Tonja Brown (Matt Russell), Luke (Anna) Minor, Ashley, Andrew and Elizabeth Dahler; great-grandchild, Brandon Russell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service, with reception following, will be Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 3 pm at Central Lutheran Church, 512 South Bernard St., Spokane, WA 99204.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Lutheran Church Clothes Closet.
