A head-on collision killed a 39-year-old Newport woman on U.S. Highway 2 between Oldtown and Priest River on Friday afternoon, according to the Idaho State Police.
Christopher Jewsbury, 50, of Spokane, was westbound in a pickup truck about 5:15 p.m. when he crossed the centerline and sideswiped an eastbound Chevy Trailblazer driven by David Oakes, 61, of Olympia, according to the ISP. Jewsbury then crashed head-on into a vehicle driven by Amy Brady, of Newport, who was behind Oakes. Brady, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jewsbury was taken to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. He was not wearing a seat belt.
The cause of the crash is being investigated, the ISP said.
