Obituary: Jacobson, Virginia Loraine
Age 84
Virginia was born in Moscow, Idaho on August 28, 1929 to Roy and Esther Blayden.
“Tassie,” as she was known to her family, joined brothers Jim, Glen and Dean Blayden as well as half brother Ralph and her birth was followed by the birth of her sister Beverly.
Moving to Spokane, Virginia graduated from North Central High School.
She met her future husband Robert Jacobson when she was in high school and they married in 1949.
Virginia worked for a short time as a secretary and bookkeeper but became a full time homemaker to care for her children Kristine and Robert.
In the 1960’s, “Geeg”, as her friends know her, discovered her true passion, golf.
She became an avid golfer and loved the competition of athletics as well as the camaraderie of her friends.
Though she tried to appear humble, she was a tough competitor who loved to win a match and was secretly delighted when she began to regularly beat her husband at the game.
Golf continued to be her avocation throughout her life.
Virginia’s zest for life, her resilience and her love of people made her a sought after golfing partner and friend and a beloved family member.
Her greatest success in life can be measured by the love and respect held for her by all who knew her.
Words frequently used to describe her are youthful, exuberant, spunky and accepting.
She was preceded in death by husband Robert Jacobson and grandson Adam Lindeblad as well as brothers Glen Blayden and Dean Blayden.
She will be sadly missed by her survivors; daughter and son-in-law Kristine and Gary Lindeblad, son Robert Jacobson, grandsons Matthew Lindeblad and wife Kana, Brian Lindeblad, Christopher Jacobson, Cody Jacobson and Yuto Kawimura as well as four great grandchildren, Zyon and Marley Lindeblad, Gene Lindeblad and Brooklyn Jacobson, and many loving friends.
A viewing will be held at Hennessey Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division on Sunday, March 30, from 2 p.m. until 4p.m.
Her interment will be Monday, March 31 at 10:30 a.m. at Spokane Memorial Gardens, 5909 S. Cheney-Spokane Rd., followed by a Memorial Service at Hennessey Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Memorials would be gratefully accepted by Spokanimal, 710 N.
