The Federal Aviation Authority is investigating a plane crash near Grand Coulee that killed a Monroe man on Saturday. According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Kenneth A. Berger was flying a Searay amphibious plane near Steamboat Rock State Park around 5 p.m. Saturday. While attempting to take off from Banks Lake, witnesses said the plane went nose-down into the water and sank. Berger was the lone occupant of the plane. People in boats dove into the lake and released Berger from his seatbelt, bringing him to the surface. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
