Idaho volleyball: CdA wins 2, moves into semis; defending champ Lewiston eliminated

The Coeur d’Alene volleyball team beat Mountain View and Centennial Friday at the 5A State tournament in Idaho Falls and are two wins away from a state title.

The Vikings will meet Idaho Falls in the semifinals today. The Tigers advanced with wins over Rocky Mountain and Vallivue.

Coeur d’Alene opened the tournament with a 17-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-14 win over Mountain View. The Vikings’ Megan Ramseyer had 21 kills and 18 assists and Missy Huddleston added 15 kills and eight digs.

The Vikings then went on to sweep Centennial 25-16, 25-15 and 25-13. Ramseyer led the charge again with 15 kills, 21 assists and three aces.

• Lewiston, the two-time defending State 5A champions, was eliminated after dropping its first two matches. The Bengals fell to Vallivue and then were eliminated after a five-game loss to Rocky Mountain.

Sandpoint was eliminated after falling to Bishop Kelly and Preston at Kimberly High School in Kimberly, Idaho.

3A

Bonners Ferry saw its season come to an end with a three-game loss to Kimberly at Twin Falls High School. The Badgers lost to Sugar-Salem in the first round and then swept Parma before being eliminated by Kimberly.

1A Division II

Kootenai was eliminated after falling to Lighthouse Christian and Logos at Declo High School in Declo, Idaho.
