EAGLE, Idaho – Coeur d’Alene High seniors Kara Story, Krista Story and Josie Brown have been the pillars of Idaho’s top 5A cross country program for the past three seasons.
Each of the three finished in the top 10 as Coeur d’Alene raced to its third consecutive State 5A championship at chilly, rainy Eagle Island State Park.
Kara Story finished runner-up in 18 minutes, 20 seconds, followed by Brown (third, 18:36), junior Caitlin Conway (sixth, 18:57), Krista Story (seventh, 18:59) and sophomore Merceydes Smith (22nd, 19:44).
For the second consecutive year, the Sandpoint girls won the 4A state title. The Bulldogs did not have an individual top 10 finisher.
