Obituary: Bass, Roger L.

Age 75

BASS, Roger L.

Was born on July 17, 1939 and passed away October 27, 2014 at Sacred Heart.

Preceded in death, his wife of 39 years Dahloris (Dorts) Meenach Bass, parents Dan and Bernice (Bea Marshall) Bass, sister Shirley Bass Commer.

Roger is survived by brothers Dan L (Linda) Bass of Spokane and Don L (Dee Dee) Bass of Ocean Shores, WA, niece Jennifer (Nathan) Bass Reniham of S.C., nephew Ryan Bass of Spokane, one great-niece and two great-nephews.

Roger spent all his life in Spokane, graduating from North Central High School in 1957.

Shortly after graduating, he went into the Navy for two years.

Roger and Dahloris loved gardening, snowmobiling, traveling and especially their dogs, until their health started to fail.

Roger like to hunt, mess with cars and racing cars.

He lived the last four and one half years at the Spokane Veterans Home and developed many new friends and interests.

He liked building model cars and boats.

He built and painted many birdhouses, on display on the tree outside his window.

He enjoyed knitting and won several ribbons at the fair.

He also liked to paint pictures.

Roger loved life the best he could after his health started to fail.

He was nominated “Veteran of the Month” and was on several committees (especially the food committee).

He always looked forward to Friday night dinners with his old grade school and high school buddies.

Roger will be missed by all who knew him.

A remembrance of Roger’s life, over coffee and cookies, will be on November 8, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Central Grange, E. 7001 Bigelow Gulch Rd., Spokane, WA.

We would like to thank all the staff at the Veterans Home for the great care they gave Roger.
