Spokane Valley brothers were executed, authorities say

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office said the victims of a double homicide Saturday were executed in a “gruesome crime.”

Brothers Arturo Gallegos and Juan Gallegos-Rodriguez were killed at the Broadway Square Apartments in Spokane Valley, where they shared a unit. Gallegos-Rodriguez, 44, died from multiple gunshot wounds, and Gallegos, 53, died from a gunshot wound to the head and neck.

Neighbors said the brothers were nice people who moved into the unit within the past few months and largely kept to themselves.

According to official records, the brothers moved to the Spokane area from Ventura County, California, sometime between 2005 and 2007.

Several candles, flowers and cards from neighbors were clustered around the door to the brothers’ apartment Wednesday morning.

Detectives have established a major crimes tip line for citizens to provide information about major crimes investigations. Anyone who has had past contact with the victims, knowledge of their activities or any information about the double homicide is asked to call (509) 477-3186.
