Achievements: Residents receive military honors

Several area residents have graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio- Lackland in San Antonio.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Timothy Filburn is the son of Ronni Filburn, of Kodiak, Alaska, and Tim Filburn, of Spokane.
Air Force Airman Brianna Dubay graduated from Shadle Park High School in 2013. She is the daughter of Spokane residents Jodi and Keith Dubay.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Jared Tuohy is the son of Nancy and James Tuohy, of Spokane. He graduated from Mead High School in 2009 and earned a bachelor’s degree in 2013 from Washington State University.
• Army Pvt. Taylor Gail has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina. She is the daughter of Spokane residents Alvin and Christine Obleness. She is a 2014 graduate of Mead High School.
• Army Spc. Brenden Crockett was named 2014 Soldier of the Year for 194th Armored Brigade Fort Benning, Georgia, after entering a competition that tests both physical and mental abilities. Crockett is a graduate of Rogers High School. He is the grandson of Sharry and Larry Crockett, of Spokane.
• James Maley graduated from the Naval Officer Training Center in Newport, Rhode Island, and has been assigned as an ensign officer to the USS John Paul Jones in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Maley is the son of Graig and Shawnda Maley, of Thornton, Washington. He is a graduate of Rosalia High School and WSU.
