In brief: Police chief to attend coalition meeting tonight

SPOKANE VALLEY – The Coalition for Community Values is having a community meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. today at CenterPlace, 2426 N. Discovery Place.

The meeting will feature Spokane Valley Police Chief Rick Van Leuven, Spokane Valley City Council member Ed Pace and substance abuse counselors who will present information about the importance of drug prevention for children and youth.

Applications due Nov. 26 for open seats on arts panel

SPOKANE – The Spokane Arts Commission is seeking applicants to fill six vacancies.

The three-year terms start in January, and require attendance at monthly commission meetings. Commissioners may also participate on committees for specific projects.

University Transfer Station to play host to open house

SPOKANE VALLEY – Residents are invited to an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the renovated University Transfer Station, 2405 N. University Road.

Starting Monday, transfer station services for Spokane Valley residents who haul their own solid waste, recycling and green waste will be provided at the transfer station, 2405 N. University Road.
