Colville collects win vs. La Salle

Colton Vining and Justin Dragovich scored two touchdowns apiece and Colville routed La Salle 52-14 in the first round of the State 1A football playoffs Friday night in Colville.

The Indians scored three touchdowns in each of the first two quarters before letting up in the second half. Colville quarterback Ben Knight threw two touchdown passes – one to Vining and another to Journey Young. Young finished with eight catches for 85 yards. Vining racked up 116 rushing yards on 10 carries.

After falling behind quickly, La Salle (8-3) took to the air with limited success. La Salle quarterback Daniel Boutillier completed 16 of 33 passes for 179 yards and two touchdowns, but he was picked off three times.

Colville (10-0) advances to play Royal next weekend.

Royal 49, Lakeside 7: The Knights (10-1) scored 35 second-half points and raced past the Eagles (8-3) in a first-round game in Royal City. Lakeside scored in the fourth quarter.

Zillah 33, Freeman 26: The Leopards scored 20 unanswered points in the fourth quarter and stunned the visiting Scotties in a first-round game.

Freeman’s Ben Darcy ran for two third-quarter touchdowns to put the Scotties ahead 26-13 entering the fourth, but Freeman couldn’t stop Zillah (10-0) in the final quarter.

Preston Hoppman also scored two rushing touchdowns for Freeman (8-2).

Davenport 40, White Swan 6: Tom Wilkie racked up 279 rushing yards and scored four touchdowns to guide the Gorillas (9-2) past the Cougars (8-3) at White Swan.

Wilkie scored on touchdown runs of 70, 44, 28 and 35 yards. Davenport’s Nick James added a fumble return for a touchdown.

The Gorillas will play Okanogan next weekend.

Okanogan 26, Reardan 0: The Bulldogs (11-1) blanked the Indians in a first-round game in Okanogan. Reardan ended its season with a 9-2 record.

Garfield-Palouse 40, Odessa-Harrington 28: Hunter Woltering ran for three scores and threw for another as the Vikings (7-2) rallied to beat the host Titans (8-3).

Woltering’s 2-yard run and 30-yard pass to Ian Neiberg’s were the only points scored after halftime.

The Vikings play Liberty Christian next weekend.

Republic 56, Pomeroy 0: Aaron Fritts, Alex Rivera and Angelo Rivera all ran for more than 100 yards and the Tigers (10-1) dumped the visiting Pirates (5-5) in a first-round game.

Fritts ran for three touchdowns and threw for another. Angelo Rivera scored twice on the ground and also hauled in a 55-yard touchdown pass from Fritts in the first quarter.

Republic next plays the winner of today’s Cusick-Touchet game.
