Obituary: Crooks, Helen Louise

CROOKS, Helen Louise Helen Louise Crooks passed away on Wednesday, November 19th, 2014 in Caldwell, TX.

She was born on March 23rd, 1936 in Blackwell Oklahoma to Russel Glade Myers and Clarissa Myers.

She met and married the love of her life Lester Gerald Crooks.

They made Spokane, Washington their home for many years.

They had many friends and family in and around Spokane.

She loved to cook and camp outdoors.

Granny cooked and entertained for everyone.

She had many “famous” dishes and her campfire foods are still some of her family’s favorites.

We will never forget her biscuits and gravy!

They made the move to Texas to be near their Grandchildren in 1990.

Helen and Les were married for over 50 years when Les passed away.

She was known as “Granny Crooks” to her beloved grandchildren Justin and Ashley Crooks.

She was a compassionate and patient person who loved her only son and grandchildren more than anything.

She was a gardener, excellent cook and a wonderful seamstress.

She sewed many dolls and crocheted beautiful blankets as gifts.

She is survived by her son Dave Crooks and his wife Kathy of Anchorage, Alaska.

Her grand- daughter Ashley Crooks of Beaumont, Texas and grandson Justin Crooks and his wife Kathryn of Austin.

Also, granddaughter, Lorelei Mallet and her son Jeremy Burt.

Granny Crooks was loved by all.

She loved life and her family greatly.

She will be missed by all.

Services were held at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell, Texas and graveside services at Chriesman Cemetery, Hwy 36, Chriesman, Texas.

She was laid to rest with her beloved husband Les on Monday the 24th of November, 2014.

We love and will miss you Granny, Justin and Kathryn, Ashley, Lorelei and Jeremey
