Obituary: Benner, Juanita Marie
Age 94
Juanita was born on July 1, 1920, in Casa Grande, Arizona, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Gardner) Balcom Juanita graduated from Florence High school in 1938.
Sometime after graduation, she met Raymond “Bud” Benner, who was stationed in Arizona with the Army Air Corps during WWII.
Juanita and Bud were married on November 18, 1944 in Tucson, AR.
After their marriage, they moved to Northeast Washington and settled in the Greenwood area of Colville.
In 1946 they moved to the farm on Highland Loop Road and took over after his parents retired.
Bud and Juanita raised their three boys on the farm.
She was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed her life on the ranch.
She spent a lot of time working in her gardens and being around the livestock.
She and Bud attended many basketball games at Kettle Falls High School as well as other school functions.
Juanita and Bud spent time traveling to visit family in Arizona and Minnesota.
They also took a trip to Inuvik, Northwest Territories, Canada to reach the Arctic Circle, which at the time was the furthest north you could drive in a car.
Bud passed away in 1991 and Juanita continued to live on the farm.
She would still take the time to travel and visit family and even took a trip to Hawaii.
She was a dedicated member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Colville for many years.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings, Margaret, William, Ted Clarence, Pheobe; and twins, Violet and Pansy.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Benner and wife, Patricia of Mead, WA, Charles Benner and wife, Patty of Enderlin, ND, Martin Benner and wife, Debbie of Spokane, WA; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren and four step great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service for Juanita will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the Danekas Funeral Chapel, Colville, WA with the graveside service to follow at Mountain View Park Cemetery, Colville, WA.
