Unbeaten Pirates hold off Coyotes

K.C. McConnell had 22 points and 13 rebounds and No. 19 Whitworth improved to 4-0 with a 57-54 win over College of Idaho on Saturday at the Lady Yote Classic in Caldwell, Idaho.
The Pirates struggled offensively, but made 15 of 19 free throws to hold off the Coyotes (1-7).
Lexie Zappone added 11 points and four assists for Whitworth and Faith Emerson had 11 rebounds.
College of Idaho was led by Aleah Lowber and Elisha Hensey, who scored 18 and 16, respectively.
The Pirates will look to preserve their unblemished record Friday at Texas Lutheran.
Idaho 65, Seattle 50: Christina Salvatore led a balanced offensive attack with 15 points, five rebounds and four assists and the Vandals (3-2) topped the Redhawks (1-4) in a nonconference game in Seattle.
Idaho dominated down low, holding a 32-8 points-in-the-paint advantage.
The Vandals led by eight at the half and extended it to 17 with an 11-2 run to open the second half.
Idaho’s Stacey Barr added 13 points and eight rebounds and Brooke Reilly chipped in 10 points and eight boards.
The Vandals play at No. 19 Oregon State on Thursday.
