Tim Gunn salutes first-lady fashion

From Wire Reports

Michelle Obama has gone under Tim Gunn’s fashion microscope and gotten an approving nod, but not all first ladies fared as well – Hillary Clinton among them.

Gunn and a panel of fashion experts reviewed the fashion sense of the nation’s first ladies at a National Archives forum Tuesday, and found plenty of do’s and don’ts.

Gunn rated Mrs. Obama’s style sense as “divine.” Jacqueline Kennedy he deemed a “style-setter.”

As for possible future administrations, Gunn said Clinton has been looking “very presidential lately.”

But designer Tracy Reese said Clinton’s “appearance is down on the list.”

Valerie Steele, director of the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, said Clinton’s signature style from her days as first lady was “the famous pantsuit and the hair problems.”

Baker’s lawyer sues for salary

A lawyer who represented Anita Baker against allegations she failed to pay for work done on her Detroit-area home is suing the singer, saying she owes him money.

Jamal Hamood filed a $150,000 lawsuit against Baker on Monday in Wayne County Circuit Court.

It was Hamood who earlier this year said Baker was wrongly accused by a company that says the Grammy-winning vocalist owes it $15,000.

Now, Hamood tells WXYZ-TV Baker owes him for more than a year of work. According to Hamood, Baker owes him nearly $69,000 for salary, travel and other expenses.

Dempsey cycles during fundraiser

Nearly 3,900 people helped raise more than $1.1 million for cancer care and support at the sixth annual Dempsey Challenge, organized by actor Patrick Dempsey in honor of his mother.

Aimee Arsenault, manager of special events and development at the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine, announced the fundraising total at Sunday’s closing ceremonies and added that it’s still growing.

Dempsey, the “Grey’s Anatomy” actor and Maine native, was one of the roughly 1,000 people who took part in Sunday’s cycling events. Others raised money by walking or running.

The actor founded the Dempsey Challenge following the experience of his mother’s battles with ovarian cancer. She died in March at age 77.
