Lewis and Clark rides first-half lead to victory over NC

After three straight losses to open the season, the Lewis and Clark football team has some momentum going.

The Tigers had no difficulty dispatching the North Central Indians 24-7 in a nonleague game Thursday at Albi Stadium.

North Central (1-4) hung tough for a half, but it couldn’t recover from a late second-quarter Lewis and Clark touchdown.

Cameron Duncan scored from a yard out with under a minute to go before halftime, extending LC’s lead to 24-7.

That’s where it would stand after a scoreless second half.

The Tigers had good field position in the second half but never capitalized.

Lewis and Clark (2-3) got off to a good start, scoring on its first possession.

The Tigers rushed 10 times for 77 yards capped by a 5-yard run by Taylor Duncan for a 7-0 lead.

Alex Ratcliff kicked a 22-yard field goal for a 10-0 lead with 9:22 to go before intermission.

Not long after that, Lewis and Clark took advantage of good field position at the 50-yard line. Seven plays later, quarterback Jordan Summers hit Adam Thompson on a 17-yard connection for a 17-0 lead.

North Central returned the kickoff to the Tigers’ 42, and six plays later quarterback Shane Pethers found Isaac Wicks in the flat for a 5-yard touchdown pass, to pull North Central within 17-7 with 3:01 to go in the second.

The Tigers closed out the half with the touchdown from Cameron Duncan.

Duncan led Lewis and Clark with 135 yards on 21 carries. Wicks led North Central with 44 yards receiving and 39 rushing.
