Obituary: Ferry, Esther “Jeanne”

Age 62

FERRY, Esther “Jeanne” (Age 62) Esther “Jeanne” Ferry passed away peacefully September 7, 2014 in Portland, OR.

Her siblings, her sons and close friends gathered at her bedside to tell her goodbye.

She was born November 9, 1951 to Duane Marion Ferry and Esther Jeanne Ellsworth Ferry in Spokane, WA.

Jeanne was gifted musically and dramatically, singing and playing piano, and acting in plays in her younger years.

She had a great sense of humor.

She loved animals, especially her cats.

Jeanne was known by friends to give a helping hand when she could to those in need, and her passing will leave a gap in many peoples’ hearts.

During her life, Jeanne lived in Spokane County, and in Newberg Oregon.

She had many careers, working at the Longhorn Restaurant in Spokane, at Kaiser Aluminum in Mead, as a meat cutter, as a florist, and later as a caregiver.

Jeanne attended West Valley High School in Spokane and married her high school sweetheart, Rick Lewis.

They had two sons, Rick Patrick and Daniel Christopher “Kit”.

She was later married to the late John Chastain.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her father and mother.

She leaves behind her two sons; her grandsons, TJ and Andrew Lewis; brothers, Daniel Duane Ferry and Gerald Stephen Ferry (wife Teresa); and sister, Leona “Nona” Marlene Groesbeck (husband Dick); along with many nephews and nieces.

There will be no memorial service at her request.
