Obituary: Koger, John W.

Age 71

KOGER, John W. (Age 71) John William Koger passed away peacefully on September 29, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gloria (Keiper) Koger; his two daughters, Karli (Dennis) Reed and Kristen (Douglas) Glant; and his son, Dr. John Gregory Koger (Brooke Bagnall-Koger); and his grandchildren, Aaron, Christopher, Sarah, Ryan, Nick, Jacob, Joshua, Chase, and Camryn; and his sister Sandra, (Koger) Kindschy and her family.

John was born November 9, 1942, in Great Falls, Montana, and raised in the shadow of Square Butte in Ft. Shaw, Montana.

He met his future wife while both were attending Simms High School and they married while he studied at the Montana School of Mines.

Armed with a degree in metallurgical engineering and blessed with three children, they explored the world together.

John worked in Seattle (with Boeing), Chile, Ghana, Spokane, and Tacoma, spending most of his career with Kaiser Aluminum while earning a masters in business administration.

From Tema, Ghana to Maui to the Sun River Valley of Montana, John shared his immense humor and caring friendship.

John loved music and dancing.

He played and watched football, basketball, baseball, tennis, and golf with a passion.

He loved to organize camping trips and Cajun shrimp boils for his family and friends.

John died of complications from hemochromatosis, also called Iron Overload Syndrome.
