Prescribed burn responsible for smoky skies

Smoky skies in Coeur d’Alene this afternoon are caused by a Forest Service prescribed burn. About 130 acres are currently burning on the Idaho Panhandle National Forests and the blaze will continue through tomorrow if conditions are favorable, said Jason Kirchner, a Forest Service spokesman. The Blue Alder prescribed burn will reduce fuel loads on national forest land near urban areas and benefit fire-dependent ecosystems. More information is available at Northidahorxfire.com
