Juniors Oliver Rudnicki and Austin Billeter went 1-2 to lead the Whitworth men to an 11-stroke victory in the Whitman Invitational Monday at Wine Valley Golf Course in Walla Walla.
Rudnicki, who had shared the first-round lead Sunday at 2-under 70, finished with 73 for a 1-under 143. Billeter (Mt. Spokane) was 73-71–144.
Whitworth compiled a team score of 583. Puget Sound was second at 594.
• Alyssa Maine, a Whitman junior from Freeman, shot 81-77 for 158 to finish third and help lead the Missionaries to the team title in the Whitworth Invitational women’s tournament that wound up Sunday at Canyon Lakes in Kennewick.
Maine’s teammate, Kelly Sweeney, was a medalist with a 154, three shots better than Whitworth’s Michal Schuster, as the Missionaries bested the Pirates 638-661.
