Debbie Harry to headline John Lennon tribute concert

From Wire Reports

Debbie Harry will perform at the 34th annual John Lennon charity tribute concert in New York City in December.

The announcement Wednesday by the nonprofit Theatre Within came a day before what would have been Lennon’s 74th birthday.

Other performers include Kate Pierson of the B-52s, Joan Osborne, Marshall Crenshaw and Ben E. King.

Yoko Ono said in a statement: “I share Theatre Within’s belief that music and the performing arts have a special power to bring people together and inspire us to make a positive difference. It’s beautiful that the Tribute continues to have such a powerful impact in John’s memory.”

Rock photographer Bob Gruen, who photographed Lennon during the years he lived in New York, will be honored with the first John Lennon Real Love Award.

Proceeds will benefit Lennon and Ono’s Spirit Foundation.

Patton to part with hubby Thicke

Paula Patton has filed for divorce from Robin Thicke and is asking for joint custody of their son.

The “Precious” and “2 Guns” actress filed for divorce from the “Blurred Lines” and “Give It 2 U” singer in Los Angeles, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

The 38-year-old actress and 37-year-old singer announced they were separating in February after nine years of marriage. They have a 4-year-old son.

Patton was the inspiration behind much of Thicke’s music and appeared in some of his videos.

Miley’s awards date gets jail time

The young man who accompanied Miley Cyrus to the MTV Video Music Awards has been sentenced to six months in jail for violating the terms of his probation in Oregon.

Officers led away Jesse Helt in handcuffs Tuesday shortly after he and his attorney asked the judge for leniency.

“I’d like to be viewed as a good person, not as a nuisance to society,” Helt said.

Helt, 22, was arrested in 2010 after breaking into an apartment. He violated his probation a year later when he failed to meet his probation officer, violated curfew and didn’t complete 88 hours of community service.

Instead he moved to Los Angeles. He sought modeling work, toiled at a few low-paying jobs and was homeless from time to time.

Cyrus met him during a visit to My Friend’s Place, a shelter for homeless youth in Los Angeles.
