In brief: SmileMobile provides kids’ dental services

LOGAN NEIGHBORHOOD – The Washington Dental Service SmileMobile will be at Logan Elementary School, 1001 E. Montgomery Ave., Monday from 1 to 4 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Follow-up treatment will be provided through Oct. 17.

The SmileMobile travels the state offering dental services to children who might not otherwise have access. Appointments for children through high school age are available by calling (888) 286-9105.

Medicaid and sliding-scale fees will be accepted.

Class offers help with child welfare system

SPOKANE – Parents involved in a child welfare dependency case and who are in need of information about how the system works, local resources and support are invited to attend Helping Other Parents Engage classes Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Juvenile Courthouse lobby, 1208 W. Mallon Ave.

Search and rescue orientation Oct. 16

SPOKANE VALLEY – Spokane Explorer Search and Rescue is hosting an orientation night on Oct. 16.

The search and rescue program is for high school students and their parents who are trained and certified to meet state standards. The group specializes in searching for and recovering missing and injured people in the county and state. Group members also search for evidence at crime scenes.

DOWNTOWN – Spokane COPS will celebrate the grand opening of its newly relocated COPS shop at 169 S. Stevens St. on Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m.

Market Street festival scheduled for Saturday

HILLYARD – The Market Street Harvest Fest will be Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The event will feature a charity breakfast, wine and craft beers, a farmers market, craft vendors and a food court. There will be activities and fun for the family.

Admission to the festival is $5 for adults and free for children 12 and younger.

The breakfast, “The Coldest Breakfast in Spokane,” will benefit Club Medics of the 92nd Med Group at Fairchild Air Force Base. Chef Adam Hegsted, owner of the Yards and the Wandering Table in Kendall Yards will create the menu. The cost is $20 for adults and $10 for children younger than 12 and includes admission into the festival.
