Obituary: Reed, Evelyn Loraine (Easley)

Age 87

REED, Evelyn Loraine (Easley) 1927 - 2014 Passed away peacefully at the Newport Long Term Care on October 4th at the age of 87.

Born Evelyn Loraine Easley to Leonard and Mable “Peggy” (Giem) Easley on August 1, 1927 in Newport, WA.

She attended public school in Newport, graduating in 1945 from Newport High School.

After high school, Evelyn worked in Newport, Pullman, and Roselle, NM before settling in Seattle, WA where she worked for A&P Food Stores as a bookkeeper.

In Seattle she met and then married Roy Reed on April 15, 1953, they made their home in there until 1966 when they moved to Marysville, WA.

In 1987 they moved back to Evelyn’s home town of Newport.

Evelyn gave 25 years of volunteerism to the Pend Oreille County Museum.

The last 18 of those 25 years she served as Pend Oreille Historical Society President, resigning in May 2013.

Evelyn loved working at the museum.

Evelyn was also a member of the Eagles and REAC.

Evelyn is survived by her brother Donald Easley of Oldtown, ID, nephew David (Susan) Easley and their children Robbie and Allen Easley of Oldtown, ID.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10th at the Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport.

Immediately following will be a Celebration of Life at the Eagles Lodge, Newport.

In lieu of flowers, Evelyn would have wished for memorials to be made to the Pend Oreille Historical Society.
