Blinn continues run as GU beats Santa Clara

Savannah Blinn racked up 25 kills for the third straight match, Jordan Gasser added 17 kills with just two errors and Gonzaga stormed back from a two-set deficit to beat Santa Clara in a West Coast Conference volleyball match Friday night in Santa Clara, California, 22-25, 18-25, 25-15, 25-14, 18-16.

Gonzaga’s Lauren Joseph dished out a career-high 60 assists and Morgan Douglass led the Bulldogs defensively with 19 digs.

Nikki Hess had 19 kills and 10 digs for Santa Clara (13-6, 3-3).

Gonzaga is 13-4, 4-2.

• After dropping the opening set, No. 11 Oregon stormed back and beat Washington State in a Pac-12 match in Eugene, 18-25, 25-17, 25-14, 25-23.

Martenne Bettendorf led the Ducks (14-1, 4-1) with 16 kills.

Kyra Holt had 19 kills and eight digs for the Cougars (9-8, 0-5).

• Krista Vansant had 26 kills and 24 digs and No. 3 Washington (16-0, 5-0) beat Oregon State (12-4, 2-3) 25-21, 25-20, 23-25, 25-13 in a Pac-12 match in Corvallis, Oregon.

• Brenna Bruil had 12 kills and Maddye Dinsmore dished out 36 assists as Whitworth (12-5, 5-2) made quick work of George Fox (2-15, 1-6), beating the Bruins 25-19, 25-17, 25-23 in a Northwest Conference match in Spokane.

• Pati Anae had 11 kills and Chloe Watson added five kills, 11 digs and three aces as College of Southern Idaho (23-1) swept Community Colleges of Spokane in a nonconference match at Spokane Falls Community College 25-21, 25-19, 25-13.

Jacy Vining had a team-high seven kills for CCS (19-11).

Women’s soccer

Arizona scored three goals in an 8-minute span midway through the first half and the Wildcats coasted past Washington State 4-1 in a Pac-12 match in Pullman.

WSU’s Jamie Schnieders opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a goal off an assist from Kailiana Johnson, but Arizona (9-2-1, 3-10) scored the next four goals, with the last one coming early in the second half.

The Cougars (7-2-2, 2-2) held a 17-15 shot advantage, but could only get one past Wildcats keeper Gabby Kaufman, who made seven saves.

• Brooke Moody’s penalty-kick goal in the 96th minute gave Montana (9-5, 5-0) a 1-0 Big Sky Conference win over Idaho (3-10-1, 3-1-1) in Missoula.

Junior hockey

Louie Federico’s overtime goal gave the Revelstoke Grizzlies (5-4-1-0) a 4-3 win over the Spokane Braves (4-4-0-3) in a KIJHL game at Eagles Ice-A-Rena in Spokane.
