Brother follows sister with own ace

Jim Powell will have to buy another trophy to reward a child for making a hole-in-one. Powell’s 7-year-old son, Darren, of Overland Park, Kansas, made an ace Sept. 27 at Heritage Park in Olathe, Kansas. He’ll get a trophy just as his 6-year-old sister, Lynn, did after making an ace on the executive course at Ironhorse Golf Club earlier this year. Darren’s ace came from 86 yards on the sixth hole at Heritage Park. He used a 5-hybrid club. Making an ace is nothing new for the Powell family. Jim has had eight, and he said Darren has a grandfather who made six and a grandmother who made one.
