Sturgeon releases

The Kootenai Tribe of Idaho releases more than 10,000 sturgeon into the Kootenai River each year. About 15 percent of sturgeon survive their first year in the river, with survival rates increasing to 50 to 90 percent after that. A story in Friday’s paper about a new hatchery dedication contained incorrect information, due to a reporter’s error.
