Obituary: Haase, Melvin

Age 75

HAASE, Melvin (Age 75) Melvin was born on December 5, 1938, in Wenatchee, WA to Dorabelle and Otto Haase, and passed away on October 6, 2014.

He is survived by Carol, his wife of 35 years; sister, Vivian Vestal; children; Brian (Linda) Haase, Craig Haase and Amber Haase; stepchildren, Bruce (Misty) McGovern, Shana Windorst (Gordon Abild) and Kory McGovern; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; his beloved dogs, Shadow and Fox, and his cat, Sassy.

He graduated from Central Valley High School in 1957, where he played football and earned several letters.

Melvin served in both the Army and Reserves.

He worked in heavy equipment sales, where he earned an all-expenses-paid trip to Japan.

Melvin was a do-it-yourself person and could do it all, his favorite being wood-working.

He built several pieces of furniture, some still in use today.

Melvin enjoyed boating, camping, fishing, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.

However, after suffering a major stroke in 2000, his family and pets became the major focus in his life.

Melvin spent his last days at Hospice of Spokane and we will be forever grateful for the wonderful and compassionate care both he and the family received.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, to Hospice house would be greatly appreciated.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday October 17, 2014, 6:00 PM, at Black Diamond, 9614 E. Sprague Avenue, Spokane Valley.
