Obituary: Leppell, Juanita Carole (Johnson)

Age 81

LEPPELL, Juanita Carole (Johnson) (Age 81) A lifetime Spokane resident passed away September 24, 2014 after complications from a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Born to Lillie and William T. Johnson April 4, 1933 in Spokane, Juanita graduated from Otis High School and met and married Calvin Leppell on June 28, 1952.

Juanita is survived by her children; Pamela Hull of Hayden Lake, ID; Steven Leppell of Olympia, WA; Janalee Klein of Spokane; sisters Helen Williams and Marion Kasparian both of Spokane.

Juanita is also survived by eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Calvin after 60 years of marriage in 2012, and by her brothers and sisters; Kenneth, Albert, Elsie and Opal.

Juanita was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and had been a Sunday School teacher, Blue Bird leader and room mother.

She worked in retail, in home child care and was a nursing home aid.

She enjoyed craft projects and participated in the annual Central Valley Craft Fair.

Juanita and Calvin enjoyed square dancing, visiting family in Forks, WA and spending time at their lake property on the Pend Oreille River with family and friends.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Tracey Porter, RN with Hospice of Spokane as well as the wonderful staff at the new Hospice House of Spokane North, who made Juanita’s final journey home to the Lord and eternity, loving and comfortable.

A celebration of Juanita’s life will be held Saturday, October 18th at 1:30 PM in the Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park.
