Sandpoint wins to advance

Amos Crossingham scored in the first half and Sandpoint held on to beat visiting Lakeland 1-0 in an Idaho 4A Region I boys soccer loser-out, semifinal on Monday night.

Sandpoint will travel to Moscow on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. loser-out match with a state berth at stake.

Crossingham and Patrick Rockwell were double teaming a Lakeland player before Rockwell found Crossingham cutting across the middle. Crossingham took a left-footed shot from the 12. It hit the far post and ricocheted in.

Lakeland took a corner kick with about 10 minutes to play, but the Sandpoint back four was able to clear the shot to help preserve the shutout.
