Obituary: Yochum, Kermit Kenneth

Age 68

YOCHUM, Kermit Kenneth (Age 68) Kermit Kenneth Yochum, of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho passed away October 14, 2014 at the Hospice House in Hayden, Idaho.

Kermit was born February 8, 1946 in Lewiston, Idaho, to Leonard and Christine (Funnemark) Yochum.

Kermit attended and granduated from Lapwai High School in 1964.

He then went on to the University Of Idaho playing football on a full ride scholarship, until he broke his ankle and returned home to help on the family farm.

He later worked for Bruneel Tire Service before opening his own tire store, Alpine Tire Service in Spokane, Washington.

They expanded the business to several stores, until he retired the business, and moved to Idaho in 2013.

Kermit met Joyce Beattie and they were later married August 10th, 1991 in Chattaroy, Washington.

They were married 23 years.

Kermit was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, he was a devoted Catholic and had served as an Altar Boy in his younger years.

He was also once a pilot and had owned his own plane.

He enjoyed the outdoors including hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, RV’ing, and spending time at Priest Lake.

He is survived by his loving wife Joyce Yochum of the family home in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho; two sons, Ryan Yochum of Richland, Washington; Scott (Marie) Yochum of Sierra Vista, Arizona; two daughters, Shannon (Dan) Daughtry of Berryville, Virginia; and Heather and Jon Jahns of Auburn, Washington; step-daughter, Annette (Kevin) Chandler of Chattaroy, Washington; and step-son, Brian Parmentier of Portland, Oregon; two sisters, Juanita Kudronowicz of Lewiston, Idaho and Caroline Blakeley of Show Low, Arizona; one brother, Lionel (Mary Lou) Yochum of Apple Valley, California; eight grandchildren, Sophia, Iain, Christian, Sarah, Josh, Heath, Nicholas, and Mitchell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Berditta Grant.

He had a great love for his family and his friends.

A viewing will be held Friday October 17th, 2014 from 4:00 P.M to 6:00 P.M. at Bell Tower Funeral Home 3398 E. Jenalan Ave. Post Falls, Idaho with a Rosary Service to follow.

The Funeral Mass will be Saturday October 18th, 2014 at 12:00 P.M. at St. Pius X Catholic Church 625 E Haycraft Ave. Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.

Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls, Idaho.
