Post Falls boat ramp closing for season Oct. 27

From staff reports
The Q’emiln Park boat launch ramp on the Spokane River in Post Falls will close for the season on Oct. 27. The ramp, located upstream of Avista’s Post Falls dam, typically closes in the fall due to declining water levels. The boat launch is closed for safety reasons when water is spilled through the gates at the dam, which generally occurs from fall to spring. The ramp usually re-opens in late spring or early summer, depending on inflows into Lake Coeur d’Alene. Due to Avista’s annual drawdown on Lake Coeur d’Alene, Spokane River levels above the dam will be about three feet below the summer elevation of 2,128 feet on Oct. 27. Water levels could drop by as much as four and a half more feet by the end of January, depending on weather conditions.
