College roundup: Pacific snaps Gonzaga’s four-match volleyball winning streak

Gonzaga’s four-match winning streak came to an end Thursday night against Pacific.

Lexi Elman had 19 kills and 11 digs as the Boxers (15-5, 4-3) rallied to beat the Bulldogs in five sets in a West Coast Conference match in Spokane. Scores were 18-25, 25-14, 23-25, 25-20 and 15-12.

Savannah Blinn had a match-high 25 kills and Lauren Joseph dished out 55 assists for GU (13-5, 4-3), which hosts Saint Mary’s on Saturday.

• Melissa Waelter had nine kills and Milica Nisavic and Sophie Miller combined for 30 assists as Eastern Washington made quick work of Montana State, beating the Bobcats 25-9, 25-23, 25-18 in a Big Sky Conference match at Reese Court in Cheney.

Allie Schumacher chipped in eight kills and Miller added a team-high nine digs.

EWU improved to 47-18 all-time against Montana State.

The Eagles host Montana tonight.

• Katelyn Peterson led a balanced attack with 10 kills and eight digs and Idaho eased past Montana (3-16, 3-4) in a Big Sky Conference match in Moscow, Idaho. Scores were 25-15, 25-19, 25-17.

Ali Forde chipped in nine kills and six digs and Meredith Coba handed out 28 assists for the Vandals (9-10, 5-2).

Men’s soccer

UCLA’s Leo Stolz and Seyi Adekoya scored first-half goals and the 14th-ranked Bruins held on to beat top-ranked Washington 2-1 in a Pac-12 Conference match in Los Angeles.

Stolz, last year’s Pac-12 Player of the Year, opened the scoring in the 15th minute. UW’s Josh Heard responded 5 minutes later, but Seyi Adekoya’s counter-attack goal in the 25th minute was the difference for UCLA (7-3-3, 2-1-1).

Washington (9-2-1, 2-1-1) plays at San Diego State on Sunday.
