Gophers off to 3-0 start in Big Ten

David Cobb rushed for 194 yards and a touchdown and Ryan Santoso kicked a 52-yard field goal with 4:59 left to cap Minnesota’s comeback on Saturday in Minneapolis, giving the Gophers (6-1, 3-0) a 39-38 victory over the Purdue Boilermakers (3-5, 1-3) and their first 3-0 start in Big Ten play since 1990.

Cedric Thompson had two interceptions for Minnesota (6-1, 3-0), including one with 2:28 left. This was the first time in 23 games under coach Jerry Kill that the Gophers rallied from a halftime deficit to win.

Nevada 42, Brigham Young 35: Cody Fajardo and James Butler each rushed for two TDs and the Wolfpack (4-3) scored 29 straight points to shock the Cougars (4-3) in Provo, Utah.

Duke 20, Virginia 13: Backup quarterback Thomas Sirk – who fills in for starter Anthony Boone in short-yardage situations – threw a 3-yard TD pass to David Reeves with 7:23 left and the Blue Devils (6-1, 2-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) beat the Cavaliers (4-3, 2-1) in Durham, North Carolina.

Maryland 38, Iowa 31: Will Likely returned a pick 45 yards for a fourth-quarter TD, and the Terrapins (5-2, 2-1) rallied from an early 14-point deficit to beat the Hawkeyes (5-2, 2-1) in College Park, Maryland, for their first Big Ten home victory in their maiden season in the conference.

Kent State 39, Army 17: Colin Reardon passed for a career-high 360 yards and three TDs as the Golden Flashes (1-6) earned their first win of the season, beating the Black Knights (2-5) in Kent, Ohio.

Air Force 35, New Mexico 31: Kale Pearson completed a 50-yard pass to Jalen Robinette for the go-ahead TD and ran for an earlier score and the Falcons (5-2, 2-2 Mountain West Conference) held on to beat the Lobos (2-5, 0-3) in Air Force Academy, Colorado.

San Jose State 27, Wyoming 20 (OT): Joe Gray passed for two TDs and ran for another and the Spartans (3-3, 2-1 MWC) allowed just 11 first downs in a win over the Cowboys (3-4, 1-2) in Laramie, Wyoming.

Colorado State 16, Utah State 13: Jared Roberts kicked a 46-yard field goal as time expired and Garrett Grayson threw for 243 yards, including a 46-yard toss to get Colorado State into field goal range, as the Rams (6-1, 2-1 MWC) rallied to beat the Aggies (4-3, 1-1) in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Missouri 42, Florida 13: Marcus Murphy scored three TDs, including a 96-yards kickoff return and an 82-yard punt return – and the Tigers (5-2, 2-1 SEC) embarrassed the Gators (3-3, 2-3) in Gainesville, Florida.

North Carolina 48, Georgia Tech 43: T.J. Logan scored on a 2-yard run with 11 seconds left to help the Tar Heels (3-4, 1-2 ACC) rally past the Yellow Jackets (5-2, 2-2) in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
