Domestic violence suspect arrested after standoff

Spokane Police arrested a domestic violence suspect after several hours of negotiation Monday afternoon. Donald R. Caldwell, 53, was believed to be armed with a knife and refused to answer the door of his residence on West Sixth Avenue. Officers contacted him as a suspect in several domestic violence threats made over the weekend. The Emergency Response Unit and negotiators were called to the scene and convinced Caldwell to exit the home. He was booked into jail on investigation of harassment and unlawful imprisonment.
